Head-To-Head, Recent Form, Team News, and the Latest Betting Odds, ahead of Wednesday's League Cup fixture between Arsenal and Coventry City.

The two sides have played each other 74 times (In all competitions), with Arsenal winning 41 times, Coventry City winning 14 times, and 19 matches being drawn. Arsenal lead 2-1 in League Cup wins.

Arsenal have won seven of the last nine fixtures between the two sides, with Coventry’s last victory over The Gunners, Boxing Day 1999, the famous 3-2 at Highfield Road (Made famous for a dressing room bust-up that eventually spelt the end of Marc Overmars Arsenal career).

Arsenal have played six times this season (In all competitions), winning three times, and drawing three. In other words, unbeaten. Coventry City’s record reads: played eleven, won one, drawn five (Two LC Cup matches won on penalties), lost five. In other words, rubbish.

Arsenal are 1/6 to win (1/16 to get through the round), while Coventry City are between 12/1 and 17/1. Arsenal are 13/2 to win 2-0 or 3-0, and a mere 50/1 to win 10-1. Coventry City to repeat their heroics of the MU fixture all those years ago are as massive as 170/1 with betfair.

Arsenal have eighteen players on the first scorers list before a Coventry City player gets a look-in (Giroud and Podolski are favourites at 10/3, and only 9-1 to score a hat-trick), with said Coventry City player being McGoldrick, who’s cup-tied! Carl Baker is 4,500/ to score a hat-trick with bwin. Worth a cheeky pound? Probably not.... 

This is the fixture certain Coventry City players are said to be using as a ‘shop window’ to escape the club, though it would be far easier to play half-a-dozen decent matches against League One sides to escape.

As far as attendance is concerned, the entire Coventry City home support so far this season is said to be following the team down to the Emirates, though my guess is a fair few of those haven’t been to the Ricoh for a fair while, and won’t be there against MK Dons next Tuesday, are included amongst that number….

On paper this would appear to be the most one-sided fixture in League Cup history, and, if Coventry City play as they have been for most of this season, it will be.
