Coventry Telegraph Article 3 Season 2011/12 (Extended Remix)

Saturday's match against Southampton perfectly summed up Coventry City. Abject for first fourty-five minutes; before proving for a while they could compete against even the best sides in the division; then gifting a side that really don't need our assistance two goals.

It is, of course, all SISU's fault, never the players, never the manager (Though Thorn is beginning to earn criticism). Why are the players exempt from blame? Is it SISU's fault the player continue to concede injury time goals? Are SISU only paying them for 90 minutes, but not for time added on? And do SISU choose the tactics?

It's worth remembering it wasn't SISU that moved us from Highfield Road, and it wasn't SISU who almost put us out of business. It was SISU that saved us with minutes to spare though. OK, so they haven't splashed out on new players recently, but one of the last times they gave somebody money, Aidy Bothroyd bought a fence with it!

If the club had used Wickes fence panels it would have cost a fair bit, so I'm guessing it would have been enough to pay the wages of a half decent player for a while.

Since then, it would have been nice if a few of our more decent players (And there have been a few) had played to their true capabilities and tried getting us to climb the table by way of a thank you .... or so they could earn themselves a move to a different club.

The squad we have might be slightly lacking (As are many Championship sides, though they still seem to be doing OK), but there is a half-decent XI being selected most weeks. The 1987 side (Yawn!) weren't as good as MU and Spurs (Who we obviously beat along the way!), yet still finished the season with silverware they were tipped to win.

Everybody, rather obviously, wants new investment, but if it doesn't come for free, it will only add to the debt. Or is there somebody lined up that will simply give us millions, and expect nothing in return? If that's the case, they're definitely on my Christmas card list....

If we're dealing in the realms of fantasy, I'd like to win the next treble figure Euro lottery draw (Especially as I'll wipe out Coventry City's debt first), and marry Holly Willoughby* please. And having hangover free Sundays (While continuing to enjoy a pint or three) would also be nice.

Just to prove SISU can do know right, fans were moaning at them for having no plans to buy the stadium, then, when they stated recently they were looking into doing so, fans moaned at that too! As for fans getting their anti-SISU message across, renting a plane to do so (A la 'Steve Kean Out') at a football ground sure as hell beats a poorly painted bed sheet.

I do realise that making the above comments means I am actually on SISU's pay-roll, though typically of a board who won't release funds for new players they also haven't paid me yet. If any member of the board would like my address to send the cheques to, please email me....
