Leeds-Coventry : Preview

Leeds United versus Coventry City is probably one of the biggest home bankers on the coupon!

Leeds have won 43, Coventry City 17, and 21 matches have been drawn, of the 81 previous fixtures between the two sides.

Leeds have won seven out of the last seven fixtures between the two sides at Elland Road, while Coventry City have only won one of the last sixteen matches between the two sides, home or away. (Slightly irrelevantly) Coventry City are winning two-nil in FA Cup matches between the sides (With one drawn fixture), including, rather famously (Or 'rather obviously'!) a semi-final in 1987!

(Also irrelevantly) Coventry City did the double over Leeds in the 1996/7 season, winning 2-1 at Highfield Road (Salako and Whelan the Coventry scorers), and 3-1 at Elland Road (Huckerby, Dublin, and McAllister scoring for Coventry, with Noel Whelan getting sent off!).

Leeds United are top of the current form table, based on the last eight fixtures, having won five, drawn two, and lost one. Coventry City are seventeeth, having won two, drawn four, and lost two.

Leeds are 4/6 to win tonight's fixture, Coventry City are 9/2 (Bet365), with the draw at 17/5.

Coventry City to win 1-0 is 16/1 (The same score for Leeds is 15/2), while 2-1 is 18/1 (Leeds are 15/2). Coventry City to win 2-0 is 40/1! Leeds to win 4-1 is 25/1, Coventry to win 4-1 is 200/1! Add that to backing a Cody McDonald hat-trick at a 100/1, and, if it comes off, have yourself a nice holiday! (Freddie Eastwood is as low as 33/1 to score a hat-trick).

Five Leeds United players are on the 'First To Score' list (McCormack is the favourite, at 4/1) before a Coventry CIty player gets mentioned, with Freddie Eastwood, bizarrely, the favourite for the away side (8/1). Jutkiewicz and McDonald are 9/1.

Coventry City have been boosted by the news Roy O'Donovan probably won't start....

interesting preview for the earlier game at Elland Road, any similar preview or info available for tuesdays game ?

Both sides need a win for differing reasons. McCormack still probably lowest odds to score first goal.

I doubt I will find the time or the enthusiasm to write a preview for tomorrow nights game! All but the biggest optimist knows we are down, and I doubt many see anything other than defeat tomorrow.

congrats on 3 points, disappointed with result as a Leeds fan but McSheffrey did the biz when it counted and doing better than his infrequent appearancves in a Leeds shirt.

All the best for the remainder of the season.

Cheers mate, but I think we've blown it now. Forest was a real six-pointer, and we blew it. We just never joined in....
