Coventry City 2 Crystal Palace 1

As Jekyll and Hyde a performance as you are likely to see all season, from near enough the Coventry City first XI I would like to see week in, week out (Turner for Wood, and King for Jutkiewicz please!).

In front of a dismal attendance of 8,162, six-nil wouldn't have flattered Coventry City as a half-time score-line - after the break, it was just about all Palace, and they probably should have won.

As well as scoring twice during the first 45 minutes (Through Eastwood and Baker), Coventry City hit the bar, had a playground scramble a foot from the Palace goal-line, McSheffrey fluffed a simple chance, while Jutkiewicz was put clean through by Eastwood, but it so lacking in pace he allowed Palace defenders to catch him with ease.

Two hoofs, where passing along the ground had been the norm in the first half, gave an early warning that the second half would be totally different. And to those that think Boothroyd has no 'Plan B', they were proved wrong! (Palace were also helped by the 41st minute substitution of N'Daiye, who was jeered off by his own supporters!).

Sadly, 'Plan B' seemed to be to dismantle everything that was good about the side! The main goal threat, Eastwood, was withdrawn. In his place came O'Donovan, who I don't think actually touched the ball - though did manage to get booked. McSheffrey was also withdrawn (No problem with that, as he was fairly poor), so Baker moved left (Okay....), and Gunnarsson put wide right (Wrong!).

Danns pulled a goal back for Palace, which he seemed to get by kicking the ball out of Westwood's hands (TV replays will obviously show if this was the case or not), then saw Westwood save his penalty.

As well as earning a fourth round tie against Birmingham City, a further positive from this fixture was O'Halloran - a left-back playing at left-back! - finally managing a full ninety minutes, and for the most part, looking a solid defender (Though it was his poor header that gifted Danns his goal, and he also gave away the penalty!).

TEAM: Westwood, Keogh, O'Halloran, Cranie, Wood, Baker, Doyle, Gunnarsson, McSheffrey (Thomas 72), Jutkiewicz (Platt 83), Eastwood (O'Donovan 64). SNU: Ireland, Clarke, Cameron, Bell.
