Coventry 1 Leicester 1

Early kick-offs are all well and good, but maybe somebody should actually tell Coventry City's players what time they're supposed to start too, not just the supporters. The players weren't exactly inspiring against Derby County, but at least managed to win said fixture - most of those on show today were nowhere to be seen throughout this poor display.

Leicester have had a dismal start to the season, taking only one point from the first twelve on offer, yet bossed almost the entire 90 minutes (Plus) of this fixture. One official statistics site says Coventry City had one shot on target to Leicester's eleven, which makes a mockery of all the usual 'really up for it' garbage spouted throughout the week.

Apart from the goal - coming from the only moment of quality from Coventry City - there was just nothing to shout about today for home supporters, except for mugging the nearest thing we have to rivals of the victory they probably should have left with. The side have produced one professional display this season, and for most of the other four performances have not been good enough.

McSheffrey left the field of play very early (Whether this was through injury or poor form is yet to be seen), Jutkiewicz  left the field of play after making a pointless challenge which saw him injure himself, while Ward left the field after not quite making the 'potentially better than Adam Johnson contribution' I had hoped for.

Westwood made a couple of saves that justified his inclusion (Though also dropped a couple of bollards), despite the fact it looks as if he'll sod off for free next summer, while Clive Platt won most things aimed in his general direction in the first half, but barely saw the ball in the second half, as Coventry City seemed to adopt a 'we've scored once, I doubt we'll get another' attitude.

The irony of a player called 'King' scoring the equalising goal for 'them', rather than a player called King scoring for us hasn't been lost on me either. The current Coventry City is a side crying out for a Marlon King figure. They are quality-shy, shot-shy, and lacking to many of the attributes needed to be contenders. Disagree? Then take your Sky Blue tinted glasses off....

There are rumours that some board members don't want Marlon King here - if that's the case, fine, but Coventry City needs somebody of his calibre to wake up bored supporters. And there are rumours that some of the clubs sponsors do not want Marlon King here too - if that's the case, fine, but more displays like that will lead to less supporters reading your bloody adverts, therefore not buying your products.

I've been fairly undecided about the rights and wrongs of bringing King in, but the reality is he has served his time. The chance to miss out on somebody defintely good enough to play at the bottom end of the Premiership, nevermind somewhere in the Championship - and potentially worth £5 million - is to good to pass up.

And, for the record, for those people that think the problem is King's agent, he has released the following statement: "All the negotiating has been done and terms have been agreed so I don't know what the hold up is." To me (And Sherlock Holmes) this sounds like a done deal, so either finish it, or grow a backbone and come out and say why we're not signing him, so we can start planning for a lower end of the table finish. Again.

The newly appointed Sports Scientist Martyn Pert probably has the hardest job at the club, trying to persuade the class of 2010/11 that they can make a mark in this division....

TEAM: Westwood, Keogh, Clarke, Wood, Turner, Ward (Gunnarsson 66), Clingan, Carsley, McSheffrey (McIndoe 36), Platt, Jutkiewicz (Doyle 76). SNU: Ireland, Cameron, Bottomer, Doyle, O'Donovan.

Footnote: Following a fairly embarrassing series of 'falls' by Leicester players, a few of their team have been asked to appear on a new Channel 4 series of 'Come Dive With Me'....
