This match had all the entertainment of a final day of the season game between two sides with nothing to play for, rather than a match between a side with the feintest glimmer of a top six finish (So feint it's only visible through a half-decent telescope), and a side attempting to go up automatically.
The amount of times I heard the words 'how the hell are Reading in the top three?' was almost matched by the amount of pounds my pennies turned into by backing Mon Mome! Only the referees whistle, blown with annoying regularity, and the National result put up on the scoreboard stopped me from falling asleep.
Turner, Wright, Fox, and Morrison were all booked for the home side, though there was barely a bad challenge throughout the match. Only Turner's card was justified, received for hauling down Long after a predictable error. Minutes later Long attepted to get Turner sent off with some shameful play acting.
Bikey was also booked for Reading in the second half, which should have seen him sent off as his cynical foul on Best just outside the penalty area in the first half was easily deserving of a yellow card too. Having seen what warranted a card in the second half, this decision was just one of a catalogue of garbage decisions from the days match officials.
Coventry had penalty appeals turned down/ignored just before and just after half-time, the first when Hahnemann appeared to bring Best down in the area (With Best failing to return after the half-time break), and the second for what looked a fairly blatant hand-ball.
Matejovsky and Stephen Hunt came on for Reading after 67 minutes, replacing Little and Harper (Is he really worth the money Middlesboro have threatened to pay to secure his services?), while Stephen's brother Noel came on with 10 minutes left to play. This failed to alter proceedings, as the boredom continued.
Isaac Osbourne, who has stated he wants a place in the centre of midfield, was brought on to replace Henderson on the right of midfield (Getting closer Isaac!). Hall was also brought on to replace Eastwood.
TEAM: Westwood, Wright, Fox, Dann, Turner, Henderson (Osbourne 60), Beuzelin, Gunnarsson, Eastwood (Hall 85), Best (Simpson 46), Morrison. SNU: Marshall, Ward.
