With interest in his services said to be coming from Stoke, Everton, and Celtic, Aron Gunnarsson has stated he is more than happy to stay with Coventry City. And Kevin Thornton, allegedly his own worst enemy over recent years, is looking to finally make an impact at Coventry City.

Gunnarsson was quoted as saying:

'I don’t see the point in leaving Coventry. I am young and I am at a club where I get the chance to play regularly and that is what I want to do .... Coventry is a financially stable club as far as I know so I don’t think they would even consider selling me .... I’m not in this for the money. I would rather prove my worth on the pitch and frankly I am not thinking about interest from other clubs. However this is a good indication that I must be doing something right on the pitch.'

There are certain players that, barring a big bid, must be held onto, as they are our best chance of finishing in the right half of the table - Gunnarsson is one of them. And signing Johan Berg Gudmundsson might just help to make him even more comfortable with Coventry City!

Kevin Thornton has also stated his desire to change his ways and finally gain the first team place he should have had nailed down some time ago (Whether or not he'll stop wearing rascal tracksuits and thinking he's from the ghetto, or wearing pink and purple trainers with Bermuda shorts, as recently revealed by Adam Virgo, is another matter!):

'I just want to get my head down and be a new lad now and eat right and look after myself .... You can train and run and play as many reserve matches as you like but it is nowhere near the pace of first team football - that's what counts .... I got a nice reception from the fans on Saturday and I just want more of that if you know what I mean .... I want to get back into the gaffer's plans and if and when he does give me a chance I will grab it with both hands and hopefully stay in the team and do well for myself, the gaffer and the fans .... The manager said it was good to see me back. He hasn't said to me that I am not part of his plans so it is up to me now. I have got to go into training every day with the right attitude and make sure I take my chances when I get them.'

When he's on his game, Kevin Thornton is a big asset to the side, so let's hope his comments are for real, rather than just hollow words. That said, those that heard Thursday's 'Fans Forum' seem to think slightly differently, and that his career could be away from here, with Thornton mentioned in the same bracket as the going and the gone, Birchall, Borrowdale, and Kyle.

Robbie Simpson's dead leg, picked up in the stroll against Kidderminster, looks set to keep him out for three weeks. Marcus Hall is also likely to be out for a while, after a freak injury saw Leon Best's boot damage his septum (For those not in the know, the bit that fell out of Daniella Wesybrook's face!).

New signing James McPake still looks unlikely to join Coventry City until the summer, as Livingston hold out for a ridiculously high fee to secure his services early. There's very few other rumours of players coming in doing the rounds, with Crystal Palace's attempts to hijack the proposed re-signing of Gary McSheffrey one of the few involving Chris Coleman's side.

With Kevin Kyle and Chris Birchall rumoured to be set for moves to the US of A, both have more recently been linked with more glamorous moves to Swindon (Where former Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson is now manager) and Brighton (Home for not quite good enough Coventry City players) respectively.

And there's still confusion as to why QPR borrowed paid £500,000 for Gary Borrowdale....
