The re-build is under way! A new keeper and a second central midfielder have joined, with more players set to follow. And the new seasons fixtures have also been released, so it's time to work out which weekends fixtures will involve stop-overs, and which mid-week fixtures are going to require days off work to attend....
The best young keeper around, Kieron Westwood, has signed up, for a fee believed to be in the region of half-a-million pounds - with add-ons potentially taking the fee up to £750,000. He was in the League One team of the season last season, and was also recently called up by the Republic Of Ireland.
Aron Einar Gunnarsson has also signed on the dotted line, despite reports of interest from a couple of Premiership clubs (All-be-it clubs that will probably be in the Championship in a years time). The defensive midfielder was suggested to Chris Coleman by another CCFC target, Bolton striker Heidar Helguson.
Sheffield Wednesday's Richard Wood is also said to be interesting Chris Coleman, though with Ward and Dann already at the club, I'm not sure where he would fit in! Surely we wouldn't play five at the back AND five in midfield?
Ipswich and Nottingham Forest are rumoured to be interested in striker Leon Best, with a bid of over £2 million set to be offered. Should Best leave, he probably won't be being replaced by Freddie Eastwood, who is interested in a move to Cardiff. And Stephen Hughes has finally left the club! Bye! Bye! And thanks for the memory! (Versus Stoke when he took over in goal).
Coventry City will start the 2008/9 campaign at home to Norwich, and days later will begin their Carling Cup campaign at home to Aldershot. Should we need to win our final fixture of the season to ensure automatic promotion, we will have to break our jinx at Ipswich's Portman Road....
And perennial idiot Craig Bellamy is in trouble again, this time for allegedly attacking a charity worker in Sierra Leone. What an idiot.
