The end to another rubbish week in the life of a Coventry City fan. When will the mediocrity and the madness end? And will we have enough players left to fulfil this weekends fixture? When you're down, confidence-free and on the crest of a slump, the most you can ask for is to play the bottom two teams in the division over the space of three days. Coventry City even managed to mess that up. We should have lost to Southend, we did lose to Leeds.

That means we took one point from the last 15 on offer.

Monday's match was against a Leeds side as low on confidence as we were, and supposedly with a central defensive crisis. Not that it really mattered, as our strike force (Whichever two might win the Mickey Adams 'Whose Playing This Match Lotto Draw') rarely trouble the opposition anyway. And our goal in this 2-1 defeat was scored by a player who prefers playing in defence....

The papers reported that if MA dared to lose this match, he was out. It's Friday, and - at the time of typing - he's still here. Lucky us.

Following on from those disappointments, this week Mickey Adams got rid of an entire back five: Gonzalez, Duffy, Bischoff, Heath, and Clarke. Bizarrely, some supporters seem pleased with this, and have moved from the anti-Adams camp, to somewhere slightly more onside. Their reasoning is that he's getting rid of some of the dead-wood.

Very harsh, as the five that have gone have done little or nothing wrong in my eyes....

Rumour has it that Gonzalez was released as we would have to pay money if he made the first team! This is probably untrue, but if it was correct, just what would be the point of bringing him in in the first place?! And how was he supposed to prove himself? By never conceding a goal in reserve team fixtures (Usually) played at the training ground? What a waste of time.

Allowing Duffy and Clarke to return must have been to free up wages, as neither have performed badly in their spell at the club (Rumours that they were heard banging on Mickey Adams door shouting: 'I want to go back to my own half decent club! Let me out of here....' have been denied). Admittedly, they might not have pushed their claims for a move to Manchester United or Arsenal, but that was hardly likely to be the case in a struggling side.

Heath enjoyed his best matches in a Sky Blue (Or red) shirt this season, before being dis-placed by Robert Page (But was well worth hanging on to as first reserve), while Bischoff has spent almost his entire Coventry Career on the treatment table, before finally being ready for selection some six months down the line .... so after two games, and a a stack of wages paid out, we let him go. It doesn't make sense.

There are a fair few players we should be getting rid of, but they're more likely to be in the first XI than on the motorway heading off for pastures new.

The latest rumours are that Birmingham City are after two more of our players (One of them is almost certainly Stern John) - great! We're now nothing more than a feeder club for our local rivals (I use the word 'rivals' loosely, as we could be two divisions apart by the time August 2007 arrives).

Aside from all the negatives, there is finally some news that we are about to make a signing - we're trying to bring in Luke Steele permanently. Well, to all those Coventry City supporters doubting we would make the play-offs, that should be enough to erase your fears....

Saturday sees us playing Bristol City in the FA Cup, in what is our last chance to make some money this season - unless Mickey Adams is fired, and attendances rise again.
