With redundancy imminent, watching this match from the posh seats was a nice way to celebrate the end of an era! Nice meal, free drinks, and three points.... Burnley had the better of the first half, with CCFC summer target Steve Jones causing problems, while the home side had by far the better of the second half.

Marshall made fine saves after five minutes and 34 minutes, while a McKenzie effort was just tipped over by Coyne after 35 minutes.

The only goal of the game came via a penalty on the half hour mark, with a high boot catching Adebola. Burnley protested, but, having seen TV replays, I'm unsure as to why....

Cameron stepped forward to take the penalty, beating Coyne with ease (Had Jensen been in goal, it would have been interesting to see how CC might get past the wide-load that is Burnley's other keeper!).

Throughout the game, decisions by the days match officials were extremely questionable, including a decision to call Stern John up for offside after a superb pass from Currie, though the referee wasn't swayed into giving Burnley a penalty, despite the appeals of a few hundred travelling fans from over 100 yards away soon after.

The second half should have seen Coventry City's 'goals for' column severely improved, but wayward shooting meant the usual 'clinging on' for the last few minutes of this match.

A decent burst of pace and shot from Adebola was belatedly given as offside, and minutes later a Burnley free-kick saw Coventry break, with Stern John just failing to set Adebola up for a chance.

A superb Currie effort curled just over the bar on 51 minutes, and soon after a quality pass from the same player set McKenzie up, whose effort crashed against the bar.

McKenzie then missed what seemed a simple chance to double the home sides lead, while great work from Adeboal set John up. Yet again he spurned what looked a simple chance to score.

Page headed an effort just wide after 77 minutes, whle Stern John missed another two decent chance before the game finished.

In a surprise move, Stepehen Hughes was brought on as a substitute for the last 10 minutes! Kevin Kyle also came on in the 90th minute, as MA indulged in a spot of time-wasting - only fair, as Burnley have been guilty of it when playing Coventry Cty in the recent past....

Only superb defensive work from Adebola denied Burnley an equaliser in injury time, while Elliott Ward also headed a goal-bound effort of the line, as Coventry City held out for the win.

It might not have been the greatest match ever, but at least Coventry finally beat a team above them in the table!
