Defender Andrew Boyce was a highly rated and much saught after player after Gainsborough's Playoff campaign, but it was the Imps who managed to capture the signature of the former Doncaster man.

Boyce started his career at Doncaster Rovers but was deemend surplus to requirements and was eventually released. After playing at a few other clubs he ended up at Gainsborough Triniy, and he was one of the key players responsible for them reaching the Playoffs in 2011/12 after years of battling relegation. He scored the odd goal here and there to help them along their way and the run of form helped several higher league clubs take an interest, fortunately it was the Imps who secured his services.

He went on to become a regular in the Imps defence and was near ever present during his first season, with particular praise given to his consistency. Very few attackers got the better of him, especially not in the air, and he also chipped in with some goals every now and then as well.

At the end of his maiden season with the Imps he signed a new two year contract, that despite interest from Luton.
