Paul Farman initially joined Lincoln on loan from Gateshead before making the move permanent in time for the 2012/13 season. He would establish himself as the regular number one for the Imps, only occassionally being dropped.

The young goalkeeper initially joined the Imps on loan from Gateshead following the sending off of Joe Anyon in the FA Cup at Alfreton. It was the first time that Farman had played for a club that were outside of the north east after starting his playing career at Blyth Spartans. He obviously did well at Blyth and was signed up by Gateshead after just one season.

Farman played 64 league games for The Heed, helping them establish themselves as a midtable Conference side for several years before falling out of favour after several thrashings. 

His initial spell at Sincil Bank lasted just under three months and he made 8 appearances for the Imps, making two clean sheets, and when Joe Anyon went to Shrewsbury, Farman was David Holdsworth's choice to replace him. It initially seemed to be an excellent choice as the youngster was excellent at first before mistakes crept in and he was dropped after conceding four goals on three occasions in quick succession, and several of the goals being from his errors.

After having time to get his head straight, Farman returned against Barrow in February 2013 and kept a clean sheet in his first game back, he then retained his place for the remainder of the season.
