Imps will miss out on a reunion with Drewe Broughton

Lincoln City fans will not get the chance to be see Drewe Broughton in action against his former side after he was sent of for Alfreton today. The goalshy striker spent two spells at Sincil Bank over 18 or so months and was vastly unpopular with Lincoln fans, mainly because he didn't score a single goal during his time at Sincil Bank.

Broughton initially joined the Imps on loan from Rotherham United in the 2009/10 season and despite failing to score, or even come close to scoring, Broughton was signed permanently by Chris Sutton following on from his release by the aforementioned Rotherham. He failed to score as a permanent Imp, meaning he played 31 games up front for City without scoring. This fact alone made him quite unpopular amongst City fans as his lack of goals was viewed as one of the main reasons we got relegated last season.

After initially struggling to find a club, Broughton signed up for Alfreton recently and he was due to face the Imps on October 11th, but he was given a straight red card for an elbow in Alfreton's 5-2 defeat at Grimsby Town on Saturday afternoon. His three game ban will cover the game against Lincoln.

Good. At least I won't have to watch him again for a while!

Good job really as I suspect he would have scored a wonder goal against us.

As an imps fan of 16 years this bloke is the worst player i've ever seen pull on the red and white, an awful awful awful player who surely didn't actually believe he was any good? Fair play for robbing a living for as long as you have done Drewe.

I am quite disappointed to be honest know that he wouldn't be much of a threat to Alfreton scoring(Sm51)

Not many fans would have him back, but there's an awful lot of managers that wanted him throughout his career.
