Firstly, allow me to apologise for the delayed match report. The Imps headed into a double header against two of the top three going into the weekend with a trip to Luton Town. In an end to end game the Imps wasted some good chances but it was City's old nemesis Stuart Fleetwood who would prove the difference yet again.

The Imps kicked off and started well with McCallum and Fuseini both having chances early on, although neither tested Tyler in the Peterborough goal. It didn't take long for Luton to come into the game and they came very close to taking the lead when a mistake from Adam Watts left Fleetwood one on one Anyon. The striker, who has an excellent record against the Imps, strode into the area and tried to play it across goal, only for Anyon to keep it out against the odds.

City had a shout for a penalty when McCallum found himself through on goal and just as he was about to pull the trigger he suddenly stumbled backwards under the challenge of a defender. The referee ignored the claims and waved play on.

Lawless, Willmott and Fleetwood all missed excellent chances before what would turn out to be the talking point of the game. Danny Crow had been flagged offside near the half way line and as Anyon prepared to take the free kick, Kyle Perry all of a sudden hit the ground. The majority of the ground didn't see anything but the referee did and he gave a straight red to Beckwith for an alledged elbow. After the subsequent protests, the ball had somehow found it's way back down towards Lincoln's goal so Anyon kicked it back to the half way line for the free kick to be taken, Fleetwood thought it had been played, that despite it being 40 yards behind where the free kick was given, and was surprised to see the referee pull him back......and the Luton fans were far from happy about it.

Watts hit a header onto the roof of the net before McCallum missed two simple chances, both through one on one against Tyler and neither went on target, neither even went close to being on target. Fuseini was booked at the end of the half for a foul on the portly crowd.

Crow was replaced by Watkins at half time and the second half started with Nelson being booked for handball. Barraclough hit wide before Russell forced Tyler into a good save. O'Connor replaced Willmott for the hosts.

Perry headed over a corner before Luton made their third sub, with Amari Morgan-Smith being replaced by Kissock, whom had scored against the Imps for Southport on the opening day. Nicolau came on for City, replacing Barraclough.

Perry thought he had scored when he prodded in a Fuseini ball, only to see the offside flag deny him before Fleetwood was again frustrated by Anyton.

Perry was booked just minutes before Josh O'Keefe made a very rare appearance for City as he replaced Fuseini.

Despite City having the more clear cut chances in the game, Luton had always been dangerous breaking forward and when they won a late corner, it was little surprise that Fleetwood proded hom for the hosts.

There was little time for City to equalise but there was enough time for Nelson to be send off for a foul on Fleetwood, earning a second yellow card.
