Normal service has been resumed as Lincoln City lost at Darlington. Taking four points from the previous two games meant that the optimism at Sincil Bank has risen, but a poor performance at Darlington has bought City fans back to reality and left the Imps out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

It was a poor start for the Imps as Darlington had the ball in the net within 30 seconds of the kick off as Campbell played in Bowman, he turned on the ball and was unchallenged as he slotted the ball beyond Anyon.

Sinclair was soon booked for fouling Bowman and the Imps man didn't last long as he was replaced by the debuting Jean Francois Christophe at right back. John Nutter cleared a goal bound effort from Kris Taylor off of the line before Gowling blocked a Rundle effort. Campbell forced Aynon into  good save before Taylor was booked for fouling Christophe.

City finally managed to get into the Darlington half and won a corner for their efforts, only to see it easily clear by the hosts and then came an incident that sums up City's lack of ruthlessness in front of net. Sam Smith found himself one on one all of a sudden with plenty of time and space, he decided to not try to score himself but to pass to Kyle Perry and although the striker did well to get a shot away, Smith's poor decision to not try himself denied City a good chance to draw undeservedly level.

Campbell was booked for a late foul on ex-Quaker Hone and that was the last noteworthy action of the first half.

The Imps started the second half brightly with a Perry header having to be tipped over the bar by Russell and Sam Smith having a shot blocked. From the blocked shot came a counter attack and it fell to Bowman as he waltzed into the City box and hit an unstoppable shot beyond Anyon.

It wasn't long before the debuting Christophe then cost City a goal as Anyon played out the ball to him, he waited for the ball instead of going to it and Bowman nipped in, he played in Campbell and he slotted in number three.

Taylor was booked for a handball before Anyon stopped a goalbound Lee header. Walshaw replaced Campbell for the hosts and Jamie Taylor came on for Smith for the Imps. Taylor was quickly involved as he won a corner and after a bit of play from Nutter and Russell, it fell to Power and he hit a long range effort into the top corner, it was a goal City didn't deserved. There were no more noteworthy incidents after that, with only substitutions taking place other than a midfield battle.
