Lincoln City's lengthy wait for a victory has finally ended with a 2-1 win over Telford. The Imps have had to wait since March 12th for a victory but a brace from substitute Kyle Perry secured the points. It certainly wasn't an easy victory for the Imps though as Joe Anyon had to provide several impressive saves to secure the points.

The Imps kicked off and Taylor had an early shot deflected for a corner that came to nothing. Gowling tried his luck from distance, only to see his effort go wide of the target. Brown flicked a Newton corner wide for the hosts before Smith had an effort from the edge of the box saved. The game calmed down but the Imps did have Joe Anyon to thank for not being behind as Young and two others broke through three-on-one, but thankfully the goalkeeper continued his impressive early season form with a fine save to keep the Imps level.

Taylor headed a corner wide before Preston did the same for the hosts. Davies tried his luck from range before ex-Lincoln man Reid won a corner that was easily claimed by Anyon. Both sides kept producing half chances but neither goalkeeper was properly tested again before half time.

Power drilled a volley wide for City before a last minute Sinclair tackle denied Meechan and opener for the hosts. McCallum had a free kick well saved before Taylor was again frustrated by the Telford stopper. The second half was far slower than the first and it wasn't until substitutions started that the game changed. Reid went off for Mills before Newton was booked for a late tackle on Sinclair.

Barraclough and Perry replaced Smith and Taylor and within two minutes the substitution was impactful as Barraclough broke free of the defence. He was getting ready for a shot but unselfishly played the ball to Perry to slot into the net for his second goal of the season.

It wasn't long before Perry became the first substitute since Ben Wright in 2008 to score twice from the bench when he headed in a Fuseini cross, the midfielder actually doing something useful for once. It was also the first time since City's last victory in march that an Imp had scored twice.

Russell had an effort go wide but just as it looked like the Imps would keep a first clean sheet since February, Mills smashed a superb goal in from distance. Luckily Telford couldn't make it two and City had three points for the first time in fifteen games.

Going forward we actually look like a really good team. Such a difference to last season.

Even our subs look good like Barraclough and Perry.

I believe McCallum will have some good games. Some consistency from him and he will provide a lot of goals and assists.
