Alan Power joined the Imps in the summer of 2011 following his release from Rushden and Diamonds. He was an extremely popular player at Nene Park but their horrendous financial position meant that they couldn't afford to keep the former Nottingham Forest man.

Irishman Alan Power started life as a footballer with Nottingham Forest and was in the same youth team as former Imps such as Hamza Bencharif. Power would make just one appearance for Forest, a start at Peterborough United . He spent a spell on loan at Grays Athletic before being released at the end of the 2007/8 season.

Hartlepool United was Power's first experience of first team football in the Football League, however, he would make just six appearances over two seasons at Victoria Park and was unsurprisingly released at the end of the 2009/10 season. He was quickly snapped up by Rushden and Diamonds.

A near ever present in a Rushden side that challenged for the Playoffs for most of the season before eventually falling away, Power gained a reputation as an excellent midfielder at the Blue Square Premier level and he was named as Rushden's Players' Player of the Year. However, the crippling debts that would eventually see Rushden chucked out of the Blue Square Premier meant that they couldn't afford to keep Power and he was released.

Along with Rushden team-mate Sam Smith, Power joined Lincoln City in July 2011 ahead of the club's first spell in the non-league since the 1980's.

Despite an inconsistent season in 2011/12, Power excelled during the 2012/13 season, becoming the club's third highest leading goalscorer, including one memorable goal to give City the lead in a 3-2 win over League One Walsall in the FA Cup. He would end the 2012/13 as Player of the Season and he soon signed a new contract.
