Grimes : "I'm an Imp until May, after that, who knows?"

The good news is that Ashley Grimes hasn't ruled out a move to Sincil Bank in the summer, the bad news is that he also isn't committing to saying he's definitely interested. In an interview with the BBC, Grimes has been talking about his future and time at Sincil Bank.

Grimes joined the Imps on loan in October and despite not starting his first few games, Grimes has gone on to score more goals in a single season than anyone has since Jamie Forrester reached 18 in 2006/7. Another two goals and Grimes will reach Jamie Forrester's total and only Simon Yeo will be ahead of Grimes in that list. For months the fans have been calling for him to sign here permanently, but Grimes seemingly knows as much as his future as we do.

"My future's up in the air. I don't know where I'll be next season but I'm a Lincoln player until May and after that, who knows?" He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Grimes added: "People are always going to talk about you, whether you're doing good or bad. People will always have opinions but you just have to go out there and play football.

Grimes' goals have taken City from relegation candidates to midtable also-rans and since he joined, his goals have won the Imps thirteen points, meaning that without his goals, we would be bottom. Whilst he was non-committal about his future, Grimes admitted that he loves playing for Lincoln.

"When I came here my only target was to play as many games as possible and not even think about goals, but now I want to get as many as I can. This is a great club, I love the manager and all the lads have been great."

The biggest stumbling block to him joining City permanently is the interest of several higher league teams, with Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday said to be scouting him on a regular basis.

There was an instance that the fans bought a player for the club ( could have been Dave Felgate ) or is my memory playing up as it does at times!

I think you're thinking of Peter Grotier. Got the right position though!

Part-funded by the fans in the days when £16,666 could by you a quality player.

I'm afraid we have the same chance of keeping Grimes as we did with Somma...
