Former Imp gets first win as a manager

Former Lincoln City player Terry Fleming secured his first win as Lincoln United manager with a 4-0 win. Whilst the 4-0 win in itself is respectable, it came away at the league leaders Barwell. Former Imp Sam Mullarkey was also on the scoreline in the big win.

Fleming took charge of the Whites a few weeks back, replacing John Wilkinson who moved upstairs. United's form wasn't brilliant, infact they hadn't won before travelling to a Barwell side who had won 13 of their 15 home games of the season before Saturday, the other two ending in draws.

128 people were there to see Sam Mullarkey, a former Lincoln City striker, open the scoring after two minutes before goals from Sam Wilkinson, Scott Coupland and George Zuerner completed the tumping.

The win leaves United in 15th place, too far from the Playoffs to challenge and miles above the drop zone, meaning their remaining seven games are effectively practice for next season. Elsewhere in the same division, Lincolnshire sides are having mixed fortunes. Grantham are in the Playoffs, Stamford are 16th and Spalding are bottom, securing just 15 poins from their 35 games of the season.

Would love to hear an interview with the likes of Mullarkey, to see what they thought of the set up at Lincoln and the way various managers operated.
Give us a different perspective on the club from players who didn't make it.

Indeed it would, I doubt you'll see an interview with Mullarkey on here anytime soon though. He was in the year below me (or the year before that) at school and we never got on, so I highly doubt he'd want to do an interview for this site.

You have said about that before Nathan, but I was thinking of others not just MUllarkey. Some of then must have played under several managers and have differing views of them.

Thing is that I do send requests out for interviews quite a bit but virtually none get back to me. Either because of the old reputation I had of heavily criticising the team.....or they just can't be arsed.

I think in the whole history of the site, I've only ever had two proper interviews, Ben Sedgemore and Jamie Forrester.....Forrester being one of the few players I have a positive relationship with.

True. Luckily in recent years I'd like to think that I've been @#$%& the players off less and less, I rarely give the fan reactions after matches anymore, so give it some time and we might be seeing some player interviews....hopefully.

Brilliant win that all i can say really. i saw that match when united beat barwell 3-2 in a cup but winning 4-0 at barwell is superb.

barwell are a good side but lost a brilliant manager to kettering.

hopefully united can also win the hoem league match v barwell.

And lincoln united beat barwell yet again. 3rd time this season. 3-2 today scoreline. gutted i never went but well done to United.
