Imp joins Morecambe on loan

Lincoln City goalkeeper Joe Anyon has joined League Two rivals Morecambe on loan. Morecambe want him to cover the injured Roche, and assuming he is played, he will play his first spell at first team football since last playing in a Lincoln shirt on January 15th.

Anyon has had a torrid season, especially towards the end of his spell in the first team. Poor goalkeeping lead to some high profile mistakes, costing City points and given that the Imps were still heavily involved in the relegation battle at the time, it wasn't a surprise when he was dropped. Sunderland goalkeeper Trevor Carson has come in in the mean time and has generally done well.

The former Port Vale keeper has joined Morecambe, a team who sit just two points behind the Imps. Their first choice keeper Barry Roche has been injured and now Anyon has been bought in by the Shrimpers for a month. When Anyon returns, he will not have to wait long for first team football against as Carson's loan can't be extended further and doesn't cover the entire season, meaning Anyon will see out the season, which City will hopefully be safe by then.
