Wilder : "Oxford lost the game more than Lincoln won it"

Oxford boss Chris Wilder has admitted his frustration as his Oxford side lost at Sincil Bank on Tuesday night. Despite having a lot of the ball, the former Lincoln man was deeply upset that his team didn't create anything said that it was a game that they lost rather than one Lincoln worked to win.

Oxford losing 3-1 at Sincil Bank last night after two own goals in less than five minutes gifted the win to Lincoln. It was Lincoln's first win in three games, whereas Oxford's Playoff hopes took a bit of a hit with the defeat and Chris Wilder was deeply disappointed with his side's performance.

“We’re fast becoming a mug side. We controlled the game, I thought, and what did they have – three crosses?" He asked in an interview with the Oxford Mail newspaper. People who go and watch us now think we’re a soft touch. We play nice football, do some nice stuff, but have no killer instinct and conviction in the final third, and when teams put a few crosses on us, we can’t defend. So we’ll defend in the morning. We’ve got to get back to basics, we’ve got to stop crosses, get tackles in.

It was a game where Oxford had enjoyed a lot of time on the ball but rarely threatened the Lincoln goal, even their goal came from Carson spilling a very poor shot from former City trialist Anthony Tonkin. Whilst the Imps were obviously delighted, Wilder was left fuming

“We had ten minutes of madness. We self-destructed tonight. No disrespect to Lincoln, but we’ve lost that game.”

Oxford head to Stockport next whereas Lincoln host Accrington. The sides will meet again at the end of April.

Fantasic wing play from Carayol for the goals was the difference and Tilson is right about his fitness he was blowing alot after his fantastic runs.

Silly comment from him,if we had stood off them in the area like we did against Shrewsbury and Bury they would have won, but we didn't!
