Lincoln may have been on the back foot for most of the second half but two first half goals from Ashley Grimes proved the difference as the Imps moved up to 13th position, their highest position since the beginning of last season.

City kicked off the game and it wasn't long before City pressed as McCallum ran down the left before O'Keefe got a foot to his cross, but it went straight into Roche's arms. Danny Hone cleared a corner before a Howell free kick was claimed by Roche. Howell wasn't to be kept quiet though and he played in a brilliant through-ball for Grimes. Grimes got beyond his marker and slotted the ball below Roche to make it 1-0.

Spencer prodded wide for the visitors before a Howell header from a Fuseini ball was claimed by Roche. The visitors were coming into the game but weren't really creating anything worthwhile, with the few shots that they were having sailing well wide.

To be fair it was a poor first half with chances few and far between, especially for the Imps who were struggling to create any significant shots, but when Howell and Facey combined to find Ashley Grimes, the striker turned into space and unleashed a brilliant curling effort off of the inside of the post to make it 2-0. A 30 yard Facey shot went just wide as the teams went into the break.

Grimes had a shot blocked at the beginning of the second half but it was a poor beginning of a half that would see few chances. Howell hit a shot well over the net but there was a moment of panic on the hour mark as Carson went down badly injured, however, after several minutes of treatment, he was able to continue. Carson's first action afterwards saw a brilliant low save from a Drummond header.

Half time substitute Kanyuka blocked a Fleming drive before Carayol returned from injury as he replaced Fuseini. McCallum had a shot from the angle saved but the game limped out and the poor match ended 2-0 to City.
