Sampson desperate to maintain home form

Northampton's Ian Sampson is desperate to main his club's home form against Lincoln on Monday. A defeat at Crewe means that Northampton are still near the drop zone and would be dragged right into the battle if the Imps were to win at Sixfields.

It's been two months since Northampton won at Sincil Bank, only their third ever win at Lincoln. Lincoln make the return journey on Monday in hopes of securing on their third ever away win at Northampton. Lincoln go into the game on a two League game losing run, with the 2-1 defeat to Bradford following on from the 5-0 hammering to Bury, although those games were more than five weeks apart.

Speaking to Northampton's official website, Sampson stated "It's a game we want to win and it's a must win game for us. We've got a lot of home games still to play this season and it's important they maintain their form at Sixfields."

Northampton are three matches unbeaten at Sixfields since losing 4-3 against Hereford, however, they have only played three times at home since mid-October, taking part in eight away games since then. Their last home game was a 2-0 win over Stockport County, played on December 4th. They have won four of their nine home games, although Lincoln are unbeaten on the road since Tilson took over.

Coming off of the back of a 2-0 defefat at Crewe, Sampson continued "Saturday's result was a set back but we need to start a new run now and if we want to start climbing the league then we need to improve our away form. I was disappointed with the goals we conceded at Crewe and we need to make sure that we get the basics right."

Should they beat Lincoln, Northampton will rise up the table and they could enter the upper half of the table. Lincoln can move within two points of their hosts if they win, although a defeat could potentially leave City bottom of the table.
