Aldershot's pitch is currently "playable"

Aldershot's Andy Nunn has described the Recreation Ground's pitch as playable. The head groundsman at the Hampshire club has quoted that the pitch is currently playable underneath the covers, but the optimism remains cautious ahead of expected heavy weather in Hampshire.

Andy Nunn took over as Head Groundsman in 2006 and Aldershot haven't had many home games postponed in their time. He has gone on one of the Aldershot forums tonight and declared that the pitch is playable remains cautiously optimistic that the game between Aldershot an Lincoln will go ahead.

Regular pitch inspections are due to take place at various points tomorrow, and volunteers have been requested to help clear the pitch.

"The pitch today at 3-00pm under the covers was playable, but whatever weather comes in overnight tonight we will have to wait and see," he posted on popular Aldershot website Shotsweb. "The plan of action for tomorrow morning is to inspect the pitch from about 7-30 am onwards, and then start to remove the covers from 9-00am. With the amount of work to get this game on we are looking for as many people as possible. I am sure there will be plenty of banter so come along an have a bit of fun while we work. Just come into the ground and i am sure you will see us out on the pitch. Also get wrapped up and if you have any gloves bring them with you as your hands tend to get cold."
If the game does go ahead, it will be the first game City have had since November 27th, whereas Aldershot will be hoping for their first home league win since October 16th.

UPDATE FROM THE EEB STADIUM

I have just come off the pitch, and it is soft under the covers, however there is currently heavy sonw falling and we are forecast to have about 6 inches before it stops. There is an inspection at 10.30 this morning when I hope a decision will be made.

SNOW FALLING HEAVILY, EVERY CHANCE GAME WILL BE CALLED OFF BECAUSE ROADS AROUND THE GROUND ARE TREACHEROUS.
