Lincoln City's FA Cup adventure will start with a home game against either Workington or Nuneaton Borough. After reaching the third round last season, the Imps will be hoping for a simlar run to add to Steve Tilson's limited transfer budget, but neither will be pushovers as both are doing well in their division..

Last season's run to the third round is the only time since August 2005 that the Imps have progressed beyond the first game they've played in any cup competition. Since then the Imps have gone out at the first attempt in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Carling Cup and up until last season, the FA Cup.

City's run last season started at AFC Telford and goals from Sergio Torres, Jamie Clarke and Aaron Brown gave City a 3-1. Jamie Clarke repeated the trip a few weeks later as his double secured a victory after Chris Fagan's opener in another victory. The third round draw took City to Bolton Wanderers, only for the Trotters to win 4-0.

This year's first game of the FA Cup for the Imps will be contested between the Imps and either Workington or Nuneaton. Both teams are currently in the Blue Square North and sit 5th and 6th respectively. The replay to decide who travels to the Imps will take place on Tuesday evening. Neither side contains any former Imps.

Elsewhere in the draw, only six of the 40 ties were all non-League affairs, there are only three all-League Two ties. There is also expected to be a large League Two contingent in the next round as 10 League Two sides drew out draws against non-league sides.

Not a bad draw, always better at home !. They'll be up for it and bring a few supporters for a day out at a "big" club.
We need to get past them and into the second/third round for some prize money.
But, then again, this is Lincoln City.

I think last season showed that we can handle sides from that division, then again the squad we had last season was better than the one we have now. Either way, we should still have more than enough to get through to the next round....should be the key word.

A home tie is great news!
If Tilson can get in 2 or 3 new faces in time for this and they are allowed to play we will have a great chance of progressing further.
Bit of a cup run could do us the world of good.
Wonder if the club will do any deals to get bums on seats?

I have this feeling that not all the stands at Sincil Bank will be open for the game. Can't imagine the crowd will be more than 2,000 at the most, then again, I suppose it depends on who end up with.

Nuneaton is this side of Birmingham and only a 90 minute drive, Workington on the other hand is a near four hour drive.

Thats why I think they'll do an offer to get more in especially as we have a home game four days before.
I'll be there!
Anyone know how many they get for home games?
Chance of giant killing might make a reasonable number of them travel.
Aryan has put elsewhere we beat both 6-0 the last time we played them way back in the mid 70s!

Maybe then can combine the Northampton game with an offer with one whom we play against in the 1st Round. Something along the lines of "Come to both games for a combined £20" or something along those lines for non-season ticket holders, or just "£5 for season ticket holders".

Well looking at it we have played four BS North/South sides over the last twelve months and won all of them, I'd be reasonably confident of going through, especially as they play at a level that Ben Hutchinson would actually fit into.

I remember the 6-0 thrashing of Nuneaton Borough back in the second round of the FA Cup in December 1976, but wasn't at the game as I was living and working in France at the time.

BTW Nathan, Nuneaton Borough went bust in 2007/08 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuneaton_Town_F.C.) and came back as Nuneaton Town, which they are now called.

Aryan's memory is only half right. We beat Nuneaton Borough 6-0 on Saturday 11th December, 1976, the only time we have ever played them. That was, of course, the second round of the FA Cup.

The last time we played Workington was on 21st February 1976 and that was at Sincil Bank. We won 4-1 and I recall Percy Freeman scoring a cracking goal following a run from the half-way line (although that could have been the previous season.) We did the double over them in that title winning year, having already won 3-0 at their place the previous November. We have never beaten Workington 6-0 but did once win by 7-0 but that was before my time (1952) - maybe Chesh would remember that one!!!

Lets hope it is Nuneaton as i can see them bringing 1000+ dont forget it is only 90 mins away and a big game for them 1st round of the FA cup....Workington and 200 max massive distance away.......

Already a deal for Northampton game, serving armed personnel can get in at a reduced rate for that game.
But agree I think a deal should be done say adults £10 kids for £1?
Hopefully both clubs will agree to something of a common sense pricing policy.

I was at the Workington game Posh mentioned in 1976. It was one of the first 5 games I ever went to.

I seem to remember being really disapointed at half-time, because we were either drawing, or winning 1- 0 and they were bottom of the table (not re-elected the year afte and demoted to non-League football after many years finishing last) and we were top. I think we must have scored a couple late on. Only a fortnight after my Birthday.

We sat in the old wooden benches that made up the stands in those days.

tony Emery before my time im afraid but obviously a great servant to the club. In my time Peake is one of the best I have seen along with thommo, matthewson, Brown, Mcauley and Morgan, Peake was a class apart....in my opinion.

My Dad (who died last month) worked with Tony Emery. He always said he was a really charming man.

He earned representative honours for England in the West Indies, just after the War.
