Danny Hone may be on loan at Darlington at the moment, but his Lincoln City career may well have been revived by the news of Chris Sutton leaving the club. Hone was never a consistently named member of Sutton's teams and it looked like his time at Sincil Bank was coming to an end, but not necessarily now.

Despite more than 20 players coming through the youth system into the first team during the last ten years, Danny Hone is one of only a mere handful to gain consistent first team football at Sincil Bank. He made a surprise debut in the 2007/8 season, replacing Lee Beevers in a game against Chester, Peter Jackson's first match in charge. He became a regular member of the starting XI under Jackson.

When Jackson was sacked and Sutton came in, Hone's City career took a drastic turn when Sutton was appointed, especially when Sutton bought Nathan Baker and Adam Watts to the club, he was one of a number of Jackson's squad that struggled to get into Sutton's side, Scott Kerr and Moses Swaibu also being left out of the side for significant periods. In Sutton's 51 games in charge of the club, Hone played in just fifteen of those fixtures.

Hone was loaned out to Darlington in the summer in a deal that will run until the New Year, when he returns around that period, he will get a chance to impress whomever the new manager will happen to be. The only thing Sutton will have to be wary of is that by then, the new manager will have been in the role for around 10 weeks.

Sutton also regularly picked him at right-back and if you had asked any City fan before that decision was made whether they thought someone with his relative lack of pace and mobility would do a good job there, I think the answer would have been resoundingly negative.

Was brilliant, particularly when he came back into the team in 08/09, and I'm thankful that he wasn't one of the ranks given a pay-off by Premiership man because we are now even more short at centre-back with Ian Pearce out of the club as well. Can we recall him?

We MUST get him back at the earliest opportunity. It is not that long ago I read that Pompey were lining up a £1m bid for him.....now I know Pompey were a bit flash with cash but this was in a national newspaper.
Get him in the team, he needs games which he has been getting but he gives a s**t.....he is proud to wear our shirt, something sadly lacking!!!
