Imps get Rotherham in the JP Trophy

Just one week after losing at Rotherham's Don Valley Stadium, the Imps found out they will be heading there again as they drew Rotherham United away in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. It will be the fourth time in 24 months that the Imps have visited the Don Valley Stadium, the previous three all ending in defeat.

Lincoln haven't gotten past the first hurdle of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy since getting to the Northern Quarter Finals in 2003/4, losing out to Halifax after being Telford and Chesterfield. Three seasons earlier the Imps had made it all the way to the Northern Final, eventually losing out to Port Vale after beating Morecambe, Hartlepool, Blackpool and Chesterfield.

Since 2003/4 the IMps have gone out to Doncaster Rovers, Tranmere Rovers, Grimsby Town, Hartlepool United, Leicester City and Darlington, and Rotherham are likely to add to that list as they have beating the Imps seven times in the last three calendar years.

However, Chris Sutton might take this competition seriously after former Chairman Steff Wright mentioned in March that the club will be giving the competition a proper go this season.
