It has to our attention today that former City manager Peter Jackson returned to management in March, but not as you'd have thought when you read the headline. Jackson had been out of work since leaving City in September of last season, being sacked along with Iffy Onuora 12 hours after a Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Darlington. Jackson's new role in management is for ......

Jackson left Sincil Bank in September following a bad start to the season. The Imps hadn't done well in the previous season and fans vented their anger at Jackson due to his over-hyping the squad and raising hopes to an unrealistic level.

A 5-1 defeat to Grimsby Town was the turning point and Jackson never really recovered.

Jackson was out of football from September and despite being in line for the Bradford job, he failed to secure the role and decided in March to take a break from Football management, although he didn't rule out returning one day.

Jackson's wife Alison has been running Caremark's staffing division, and appointed Peter to run their sales and marketing department.

"We're both looking forward to it. It's a bit more secure than football!" Jackson told a care home website. "My illness was something to do with it obviously. The care I had opened my eyes to the health side of things. The idea of starting a new career fills me with a bit of trepidation. Obviously there's a risk but hopefully we'll be successful. It's a little less stressful than football management."

Jackson continued "If I get offered a job I would take it but this is just some security for Alison and the children. I've contingency plans if I get a job as a football manager."

Good Luck to him i say..... Things didnt work out here for him but i liked the guy & hope he gets on well in his new job & his health remains good...

It was a widly held view that he would have ben an excellent used car salesman.

He's certainly got the gift of the gab! He shouldn't have any trouble selling anything. He managed to convince most of us that we were heading for promotion before we'd even kicked a ball and had signed one of the worst strikers I'd ever seen (Gall).

Seriously though, as has been said, you couldn't dislike the guy, he was an honest bloke sadly out of his depth with an inept coach. It's no real surprise he hasn't found another job in football so best of luck to him in his new venture.
