Other than the ongoing events at Southend United, it's been another quiet week in League Two. It was a mixed set of results in the friendlies for sides around the division, although many loan signings were made throughout the League.

It's been a relatively quiet at Accrington Stanley due to their transfer embargo. They are still trying out trialists though, namely Andy Parkinson and Sean Hessey. They both played in Stanley's 3-3 draw at Cliterhoe.

Aldershot appointed a new Chairman over the last seven days in the form of Kris Machala. Acting Chairman John Leppard has become the new Vice Chairman, whereas Michael McGinty joined Tony Cotungo and Peter Bloomfield as directors. Aldershot also plan to appoint 3-5 new directors over the next two years.

The Shots also fielded several trialists in their thrashing of Almondsbury Town, including former City man Aaron Brown. The other trailists included Glenn Little, Andy Stephenson, Jack Savilly, Sammy Stewart, Scott Murray and Kevin McLeod.

Barnet's 4-0 home defeat to Arsenal saw Mark Byrne make his debut on loan from Nottingham Forest. Barnet also signed Darren Dennehy  from Cardiff. They were without John O'Flynn for that game as he has taken up the offer of a trial at Championship side Bristol City.

There was shock at Bradford during the week after Jake Speight went to jail for assault. Speight only recently joined the Bantams and the news was a shock to Peter Taylor, whom was fairly unhappy with the situation. Speight was released from prison later on in the week. Bradford also signed Adeyemi from Norwich City.

Bury got rid of half of their trailists, although decided to keep John-Lewis for another week or so, although he wasn't even in the squad for their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town on Saturday. It was an otherwise quiet week for the Shakers.

It was also quiet at Burton, with only long serving Aaron Webster signing a contract really raising interest other than a friendly defeat to Derby.

Cheltenham were one of the more active teams in terms of transfers over the last week, with Steve Elliott and Martin Riley both joining the club. Riley joins Cheltenham from Yates' old club Kidderminster Harriers, whereas Elliott arrived from Bristol Rovers.

Chesterfield signed Ian Morris from Scunthorpe United on loan for the season. John Sheridan has also targeted two new players. Other than that it was quite quiet at the B2Net Stadium.

Crewe are set to make decisions on five trailists following on from an 8-1 win over Lancaster City. Chris Stokes, Danny Blanchett, Adam Dugdale, Lewis Short and Jimmy McCarthy all played in that victory. Dugdale, Short and McCarthy also scored in that match. Crewe did however miss out on Webster after he agreed a new contract at Burton.

The strange story of this week came from Gillingham. Gillingham faced Calais in a friendly, Gillingham arrived for a 3pm kick off but after arriving to a near deserted ground, they had to wait until Calais' players arrived before clarifying the situation. The French club strangely had it down at a  6pm kick off.

Gillingham also lost the services of Simeon Jackson after the striker opted a move to Norwich City, a move that will seriously dent Gillingham's promotion hopes. However, Gillingham have given a trial to former Ajax player Abroah.

Hereford had a strange week in terms of friendly results, beating Championship side Swansea 2-0 just days before losing 4-1 to League One Swindon. New signing Daniel Stratford played during that game, as did fellow signings that week, Michael Townsend and Sam Malsom.

Paul Bolland returned to Macclesfield, whereas the Silkmen's Rooney went on trial at Huddersfield Town. Other than that it was an exceptionally quiet week at Macclesfield, although Paul Morgan (right) did say he was determined to defy the doctors and return to action earlier than anticipated.

Morecambe signed Huddersfield's James Spencer on loan for six months.

Northampton Town are one of the early favourites to sign Izale McLeod following his release from Charlton. Coventry's Marcus Hall was also supposed to decided by Thursday evening whether he was signing the deal offered to him by Northampton, but he appears to have missed that deadline as there was no news about this following this.

The Cobblers also agreed a new commentary deal with BBC Radio Northampton.

Oxford were the quietest club of the week with only some friendly results making the news.

Port Vale have offered former Crewe player Ritchie Sutton a new deal and Chris Brandon's trial continued during the week. Vale also completed the move for Justin Richards.

Rotherham United have taken Leeds striker Tom Elliott on loan for six months. The striker had been on loan at Bury last season. Ryan Taylor, scorer of both of Rotherham's goals at Wembley in May has broken his metatarsal and will be out until about Christmas.

Mark Wright has joined Shrewsbury on loan from Bristol Rovers and Lionel Ainsworth has also joined on loan, this time from Huddersfield Town. Matt Harrold also joined the Shrews during the week.

Southend United remain in the headlines due to their financial situation. Fans were concerned about their 2-0 defeat to Dartford, even more so when it was revealed that Franck Moussa, Francis Laurent, Francois Christophe and Stuart O'Keefe all took up the two week notice clause in their contracts and have left the club.

The Essex club will have to wait even longer to find out if they are going into administration after their court date was put back to the 11^th of August, after the season has started and in theory, this means that their transfer embargo should remain and they will be left with only four players eligible for their first game of the season against Stockport.

Southend are taking action to have a squad available if the embargo is lifted, bringing in Zaaboub, Blair Sturrock, Craig Easton and Mohsni Bilel.

Stevenage remain surprisingly very quiet since winning the promotion to the League, although they have handed trials to Omer Riza and Chris Dickson.

Stockport confirmed Paul Simpson as their new manager and he almost immediately signed Barry Conlon and Mark Lynch. Other than that it was a quiet week for the Hatters.

Martin Gritton (right)looks set to return to Torquay United after agreeing terms. It was also virtually confirmed that Torquay and Lincoln would go to a tribunial over Mustapha Carayol.

Hinselwood was forced to retire through injury for Wycombe, but otherwise it was also quiet at Adams Park.
