Ex-Imp returning to Torquay?

Former Lincoln City striker Martin Gritton could be returning to Torquay United. The striker spent several years at Torquay United at the beginning of the 21st century and looks set to return to Plainmoor after failing to break into the first team at Chesterfield.

Gritton joined the Imps in 2006 from Grimsby Town and scored on his debut at Stockport, it turned out to be a far from happy time for the striker though as he would only score a mere handful of goals for the Imps before leaving in 2007, one of those goals being a 95th minute winner at Torquay.

The Scot joined Macclesfield after leaving Sincil Bank before going to Chesterfield under Lee Richardson. Richardson left and John Sheridan took over, Gritton's chances soon disappeared.

Speaking to the Herald, Torquay manager Paul Buckle said "Martin is an experienced player who I think will benefit from joining us at this moment in his career. He can also do a good job for us, because he is a different sort of player to the other strikers here. He's good technically, he's mobile, a good finisher and he's decent in the air."

I remember nearly pooing my pants when he signed a 2 and a half year deal at Chesterfield when he was nearly 30!

In all fairness strikers don't suddenly expire when they reach 30.......Jamie Forrester comes straight to mind

A decent striker that was never given a fair crack at it by either late great Keith or Schofield.
Was in decent form when we loaned him Mansfield and we could of done with him when our form dipped.
Good luck to him.
No worse than Broughton.
