The Imps are certainly gathering some good players in the pre-season and although some targets have rejected us, things are looking up at Sincil Bank. Sutton's approach of bringing in players who impress him in the games against City is certainly bringing some excellent talent to Sincil Bank.
I think the one thing that City have missed in recent years has been proper, out and out wingers. N'Guessan had joined us as a central midfielder, Hughes was a defender and Amoo started his Sincil Bank life as a right back, but it's been quite some time since we had this many wingers at the club.
Unlike Peter Jackson's "Magnificant Seven," the signings that Sutton is making are those that have impressed me whenever I've seen them. We seem to be taking the best of those that finished around us. Carayol was Torquay's best player, McCallum was Hereford's best player by a country mile and Jarrett was the most impressive of what looked on the opening day to be a good, strong Barnet side.
I'll be honest and say I'd never heard of O'Keefe before we signed him and Anyon hasn't played for a long time, but had impressed me on the few occasions I saw him. Infact, the only signing I've been disappointed with so far is Broughton.
Now, before anyone starts, I love Broughton's effort levels. I can't argue with anyone who says he tries hard, but much like Emile Heskey, you can only last so long without being able to score when you're a striker. Don't get me wrong, I could be wrong and he could replicate his scoring records for Kidderminster and Southend, but he never looked like scoring in his loan spell here, I guess we're wait and see.
However, with the targets that Sutton is going after, I feel confident that the majority of them would do a good job for us. O'Flynn regularly scores a large number of goals and it largely goes unnoticed by most of the division, obviously we all know about Somma, whereas Tadgh Purcell gave Darlington a very faint glimmer of staying up.
At the moment we only have two recognised strikers at the club and one of those (Fagan) won't play, so we know a striker will be coming eventually.

I have heard we are close to signing a NL striker....
