Lincoln City's newest addition to the pre-season programme is a trip to Blundell Park. The recently relegated Mariners will host City on July 31st with a 3pm kick off. It is the first confirmed away trip to the Imps' pre-season.
City haven't won, or even scored from open play, at Grimsby Town since the famous 4-2 victory there in January 2005. Since then it has been four defeats and two draws. It will be a good test for both sides though as Grimsby will be able to see if they're still capable of beating League sides ahead of their first year in the non-league in 100 years, whereas City will use it as a yardstick to see if the two place gap between the sides was justified.
It is the first away trip in pre-season that has been confirmed, although the games at Boston, Gainsborough, Lincoln United, Sleaford Town and Worksop are also expected.
On Grimsby's site. I'm not sure which sounds worse, playing at Blundell Park or on Cleethorpes beach. One is a drab, dreary affair where the sun rarely shines and often gets covered in @#$%&.....the other is Cleethorpes beach.
