Now the season is over we can take a proper look at the players of the year that are still here. We'll start with the Player of the Season and the only one to play every minute of every game, Rob Burch. The goalkeeper has more than likely played his last game in a Lincoln shirt, but showed us some brilliance along the way.

Rob Burch was the only ever present during the 2009/10 season and will probably go down in the books as the best signing that Peter Jackson made. Although he wasn't brilliant in his first season, he examined his flaws and improved on the vast majority of them.

He didn't flap that cost goals, only conceded from long distance once and the fact that he won both the Player of the Season and the Away Player of the Season says it all. It does seem strange to say he went more than half a season without a clean sheet when you take into account how much he has improved as a goalkeeper.

He commands his area far better than he did when he arrived and the only weakness I can really see is that he doesn't communicate a lot with his defence......other than shouting at them after he concedes.

One thing that I've always thought about Burch is that without anyone to realistically challenge him, he could at some point being "Marriottised" and start making mistakes on a regular basis, but he has shown no signs of that at all.

He has probably played his last game at Sincil Bank and I can picture his next destination being Doncaster Rovers. Neil Sullivan is close to retiring and they have released our old friend, Ben Smith. It could be the right step to move to the Championship, ironically then being a division above Sheffield Wednesday....a team who deemed him not good enough for that level.
