City have started their offload of the players whom they have no interest in keeping by paying up Michael Gordon and Paul Connor. Other than a brief cameo against Notts County, Gordon hadn't played since December 1st and Paul Connor only scored once in a City shirt, a 2 yard tap in during a pre-season friendly at AFC Goole.

Neither's release it overly surprising, with Paul Connor proving to be the least effective striker that Peter Jackson ever brought to his club. He only had 11 shots in his 17 appearances and to put that in even more perspective, only Facey, Torres, Smith and Broughton were below him, all of which were only here for a month or so. He also had fewer shots than Cian Hughton and Joe Anderson, both of whom has spent the majority of their season in the defence.

Gordon on the other hand showed early promise with some impressive pace down the wing in his debut against Cheltenham, although it quickly became apparant why he had slipped into the non-league before coming to the Imps. He made five appearances for City.

It is expected that most of those out of contract in the summer will be released. Sam Clucas is a near certainty to follow Connor and Gordon, whereas Gilmour hasn't done his chances any favours after several poor performances in recent weeks. Kerr has often been praised by Sutton and it was mentioned earlier in the season that Green would be offered a new deal.

Rob Burch is expected to leave anyway, leaving just Clark Keltie. The midfielder has impressed in his recent run in the first team, but it's anyone's guess as to whether he will be offered a new deal.

Sutton is also likely to get rid of Butcher, a man who has rarely featured in the first team since Sutton took charge. However, the midfielder's contract isn't up until next year, so it could be another mutual termination.
