MATCH REPORT

It was yet another forgettable afternoon for the travelling Reading fans at Molineux as The Royals were thrashed 4:1 at struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers. Although the score flattered the home side, Reading's defending during the game was simply shocking and it was not helped by the injury sustained to captain Graeme Murty who was stretched off. Steve Coppell has promised to bring in at least one defender before next Saturdays match at the Walker Stadium.

Reading did not start the game badly and had a few early opportunities to take the lead. he best of which came from Steve Sidwell whose well hit shot from 25 yards out was tipped over the bar by Michael Oakes.

Reading though ended up paying the price for not converting any of the early chances when Colin Cameron opened the scoring for managerless Wolves. Midfielder Cameron cut inside on the left wing and curled a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The Royals looked to get back on level terms before half time but it was Wolves who doubled their advantage just before the half time interval. Seyi George Olofinjana took advantage of hesitant Reading defending to rifle a low shot past Hahermann and put Wanders well in control of the contest.

Half Time: Wolves 2:0 Reading

Steve Coppell made one change at half time introducing Lloyd Owusu to replace Dave Kitson who suffered a reoccurrence of his calf injury.

Coppell obviously had a few strong words with his team at half time as Reading came out looking to up the tempo of the game and they were rewarded when Dean Morgan gave Reading a lifeline. Morgan broke away down the right hand side and hit a low shot past Oakes and into the corner of the goal. It gave the 800 Reading fans something to cheer about and hope to see another comeback like at Plymouth in early November.

Though instead Royals fans would see their side concede another two goals late on and see Reading's dreadful away form continue. Substitute Leon Clarke caused the damage as he bagged a brace. The first came from poor defending from Ibrahima Sonko who let Clarke in to slot the ball home from ten yards out. And in the 90th minute Clarke scored his second when played in by Carl Cort to volley home.
