Nicky Forster remains out, but Shaun Goater played in the reserve fixture against Brighton this week, in which he netted only to have his goal disallowed. The Goat looks set to make the bench on Saturday.
Championship top scorer Dave Kitson may well be unfit to play having played through injury for a couple of weeks now; although it remains to be seen if his injury problems will actually be able keep him off the pitch. Kitson has signalled his intent to play the game in front of what will be a bumper crowd.

Meanwhile gaffer Steve Coppell insists there is no point in seeking a loan signing to ease the problems brought on by his injury list. Dean Morgan looks likely to partner Lloyd Owusu if Kitson's injuries prove too much for him to ignore.


Paul Jewell has some issues. His team have gone three games without a victory and his injury worries will include stopper Gary Walsh and striker David Graham. Nathan Ellington should, however, make the game.

Victory for the Royals will not mean taking top spot, unfortunately defeat at the City Ground has put that out of reach for the moment. However, with Sunderland going above us on Sunday this game takes on even more importance.

Reading have yet to lose at home in the league and will defend that record just as hard as Wigan will be battling to put an end to a recent dip in form. Wigan will want to improve on their recent form in terms of their fixtures against Reading over the past few seasons.
