Kitson came in to the club on Monday for treatment while the rest of the First Team Squad had the day off. He won't be training with the squad today but is expected to resume tomorrow in time for Saturday's match.

Physio Jon Fearn told the official website;

"Dave's got a few aches and pains around his hip and the back of his leg. He won't train on Tuesday as the plan is to make sure he is 100% fit for Saturday."

The Royals are suffering a bit of a striker crisis at the moment with Nicky Forster and Shaun Goater both on the sidelines with groin injuries. Both aren't expected to resume training for at least 3 weeks.

That leaves Steve Coppell with Lloyd Owusu and Dean Morgan as the only remaining strikers available. Owusu has scored 2 goals in appearances while Morgan is yet to get off the mark this season.

And with difficult away games at Coventry and Plymouth to come in a short space of time, manager Steve Coppell will need Kitson fit.

Kitson is currently the top goal scorer for Reading with 8 goals.
