Reading Vs Crewe Alexandra Match Preview

Crewe Alexandra visit Reading this weekend, with the Royals looking to continue their solid home form and improve on Tuesday night's performance with three points.The Royals were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United while the Alex suffered a heavy defeat at league leaders Wigan,losing 4-1.

Shaun Goater joins Nicky Forster on the injury list with a recurrence of the injury sustained in Bermuda over the summer, both will be out for several weeks. This gives Tuesday's super-sub Lloyd Owusu his opportunity and should give Dean Morgan a good chance of making the bench.

Again Adie Williams could be fit to play having recovered from injury  although the Royals skipper has picked up a minor thigh problem. Although Ibrahima Sonko will continue in defence Williams should make the bench. John Fearn has announced Paul Brooker had a problem with some dodgy 'wiring' this week explaining his absence against Leeds.

The wingman will hope to return to action this weekend now his 'testicular area' has been given the all clear. Striker Dean Ashton could make his comeback after returning from injury, although Adi Moses is a concern and young full back Billy Jones has glandular fever.

FORM GUIDE

The Royals are now unbeaten in their last seven matches, home form continues to be solid with only one defeat at home this season - that fixture of course being outside of the Championship in the Carling Cup.

The Royals will be unable to overtake the table-topping Latics on Saturday with a quite massive win required to do so. Crewe lost against Wigan this week, but in recent games goals have not been hard to come by. Even so Crewe are in 19th place in the Championship.
