MATCH REPORT

The game, which was part of Brentford's celebration of 100 years of football at Griffin park saw many former Brentford players returning to their old club since joining Reading. The likes of Ivar Ingimarsson, Steve Sidwell, Lloyd Owusu, Ibrahima Sonko, Steve Coppell and Wally Downes all once were at the London club. John Salako was also playing against Reading for the first time since making his summer move to The Bees. Royals also got the chance to see former coach Martin "Mad Dog" Allen, now in charge at Brentford.

Just before the half hour mark, Brentford scored the only goal of the game through new summer recruit Isaiah Rankin, finishing well after Dean Burton's knock down. Readings best opportunity feel to Nicky Forster but his shot drifted over the bar. 

Reading never really looked threatening although Steve Coppell tried changing it around with the introduction of Paul Brooker, Dean Morgan, Shaun Goater, Dave Kitson, Simieon Howell all in the second half.

After a flurry of goals on tour in Sweden Reading failed to make a big impact in this game and will be looking to improve in their next fixture at home to Manchester City on the 2nd August. The game is likely to see the debut of new signing Bobby Convey.
