Royals defender Ivar Ingimarsson was on the losing side yesterday as his Iceland team were battered 6-1 by England in this Euro 2004 warm up match at the City of Manchester Stadium.Wayne Rooney and Darius Vassell got 2 goals each.England's 1st game is next Sunday against France. Ivar Ingimarsson goes on his summer holidays today on the back of an awful 6-1 defeat by England at the City of Manchester Stadium yesterday afternoon.

England went ahead after 24 minutes when a 25 yard shot by Frank Lampard was deflected in by Charlton Athletic defender Herman Hreidarsson.It was Lampard's 2nd goal for his country.

It was 2-0 moments later when a good move by Manchester United full-back Gary Neville set up Everton striker Wayne Rooney.

It was game over on 38 minutes when a spectacular shot by Wayne Rooney flew into the net beating Manchester City goalkeeper Arrni Arrason.

But Watford striker Heider Helguson gave Iceland a glimmer of hope when he scored from a corner which was assisted by our star man Ingimarsson.

At half time,England Head Coach Sven Goran Eriksson made plenty of changes as he normally does and the goalscoring continued.

Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell got on the end of an Owen Hargreaves effort in the 56th minute.

It was 5-1 eleven minutes later when Wayne Bridge finished off a good passing move involving Birmingham City striker Emile Heskey.

Then on 77 minutes Vassell made it 6 after a one-two involving Heskey again.

It was a pathetic performence by Iceland and Ingimarsson will be grateful he can go on holiday now and recharge himself up for a promotion push next season.
