John Salako and Kevin Watson will not be getting contract extensions this summer after Manager, Steve Coppell confirmed they will leave the Madejski Stadium when there current deals run out.
As well as Salako and Watson leaving, Andre Fashanu will also not be staying as Steve Coppell looks to build a team capable of
making the Premiership. The club yesterday confirmed that Joe Gamble and Andre Boucaud
will be leaving.
Bas Savage, Ricky Newman and Jamie Ashdown will all be offered new contracts.
The news will come to a bitter blow to John Salako who had intentions to stay at the club for a couple more years, although many other clubs have expressed a keen
interest in the former Charlton player. Kevin Watson is also attracting interest with Watford keeping a close
eye on the player.
It will now be interesting to see who Coppell brings in over the summer as now a left winger is
enquired from the gap left from Salako's imminent exit. He has still not made up his mind whether to keep his interest in both
loan players, Paul Brooker and Dean Gordon with Brooker out of contract in the summer.
Glen Little though looks like being the first new face into the club and now it is only a
matter of time before he is confirmed a Reading player.
