The blues who currently lie 19th in the premiership title are finding it hard to find new blood that want to join us in the relegation Dog-fight. Reports suggest that players are refusing to join us Brummies due to the relegation dog-fight we have found ourselves in, although a striker has remained the clubs top target.

David Sullivan saud:-

"With regard to the January transfer window, we are trying to bring in some new players but unfortunately it is proving difficult because no-one wants to join a relegation dogfight.

"We have agents acting all over Europe for us and we are doing all we can to bring in one or two players who can change the club - with particular emphasis on a goalscorer.

"When you look at teams like Chelsea and Liverpool, they bombard teams to get their goals. They don't really create that many chances and if we have the right man up front then so many of our results could change."

"Our season rests on the result from not only the Wigan game but also the next two league games against Charlton and Portsmouth.

"These are some of the toughest times I have seen at St Andrews in the past 10 years. It is a time when the directors, the manager, the players and the fans all have to pull together for what are must-win games.

"It is a time for the Birmingham fans to stand up and be counted. We have to get behind the team and remember this is not a time for arguing amongst ourselves."

Fit again midfielder Muzzy Izzet believes St Andrews is regaining the intimidating atmosphere he experienced as an opposing player with Leicester in previous seasons.

He said: "I remember playing a couple of seasons back at St Andrews with Leicester and the atmosphere is difficult to play in because the fans do get right behind the team.

"On Monday I felt that as a Birmingham player. The crowd knew it was a big game and got behind the team and we were delighted to deliver them a win."
