After victory at Craven Cottage on Tuesday, the blues moved up to ninth in the Premier League following an impressive run of four wins on the trot that included victory's against Aston Villa, West Brom, Middlesborough and Fulham.

Steve Bruce's men now go to the North East on Saturday in search of a record fifth win on the bounce. Blues have never previously won more than three games in a row so a win against Newcastle will be the best ever run of form in the Premier League.

Blues go into the game with Clinton Morrison and Emile Heskey in the best form of their Blues careers. Morrison has scored three in his last four outings, while Heskey has managed three in three. The pair seem to have struck a good understanding and have been linking up well over the last few weeks most notibly in the last game against Fulham where Heskey played a one-two with Morrison before firing the ball into the top corner.

But the Heskey and Morrison partnership aren't the only reason for the recent good form. The four wins have also coincided with the return of Darren Carter from his loan spell at Sunderland. Carter has played in all four victories since returning early from the North East and grabbed his first goal against Fulham on Tuesday. Carter has formed a good partnership in the center of midfield with Robbie Savage, himself the scorer of two goals in three games. Both players are energetic, commited and are as comfortable going forward as they are defending.

The loss of David Dunn though is a big dent in blues hopes of maintaining their form. Dunn has been influential since his return from injury but the hamstring curse struck again against Middlesborough. Blues fans will be wishing Dunn a speedy recovery and hoping that the team can create enough chances without him.

Two clean sheets in the last three games also show the defensive side of the blues game is as good as it has been all season, although Steve Bruce will be disapointed in the way the team conceeded the two goals against Fulham. With Matthew Upson arguably playing his best football since he arrived at the club and Kenny Cunningham's commanding displays as captain the blues have found possibly their greatest ever center back pairing.

Blues go into the game against Newcastle knowing that Graeme Souness' men are not in the best run of form and are a team blues can certainly match in terms of footballing ability. Blues also have a good record over Newcastle in recent years and recorded a famous 1-0 victory against the geordies last year in the same fixture. The confidence and self belief within the team is sure to be sky high and a fifth win on the bounce is not out of the question.
