Andrew Barrowman will have gave Steve Bruce more food for thought after scoring twice in the reserves 2-1 against Everton on Tuesday night. Barrowman scored goals in either half to help the reserve team keep up their excellent run of recent form.

Scottish youngster, Barrowman, has been overlooked by manager Steve Bruce as the blues have faced a striker crisis with only two fit strikers on the books. But with two goals, one from the penalty spot, Barrowman will surely have put himself in contention for a place in the squad against Liverpool.

Barrowman scored his first goal from the penalty spot after fifteen minutes. Everton's defence was penalised for pulling the shirt of a blues attacker and Barrowman stepped up and sent keeper Iain Turner the wrong way.

The Scottish youth international took until the 60th minute to double the reserves advantage. Marcus Painter hit a long range ball out to the left hand side of the pitch. Barrowman raced through the Everton defence to collect the ball and delicately chip the keeper from just inside the area.

Nick Chadwick pulled a goal back for Everton when they were awarded a penalty which he dispatched past Ian Bennett. But the young blues side hung on and recorded another reserve league win. It was a deserved win that could have been more had it not been for Everton's Scottish Under-21 international keeper Ian Turner. Turner made a string of fine saves including two top class saves to prevent Barrowman getting his hattrick.
