Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has returned to his homeland of Argentina to undergo surgery on his back. This will come as a blow for the fashionable London club who consider him a useful backup.
Blues interim chief executive Paul Smith told the club's official website: "We hope Juan will be fit enough to rejoin us before the season reaches its climax and strengthen our challenge for trophies.
"He has expressed a wish to undergo the surgery in Argentina as he is comfortable and familiar with the medical team and the club fully supports this decision."
