Harriers progressed to the county cup semi finals, as an experimental line up beat Stourport Swifts. Harriers travel to Bury on Saturday, with the news that Lee Jenkins does need surgery on his knee after all

just seven days after facing the gold shirts of Wolves, Harriers faced the amber shirts of Stourport Swifts in the Worcestershire Senior Cup. Harriers fielded an experimental line up containing 1st team regulars, fringe players and youth teamers. In a low key game Harriers triumphed by a single goal, scored by Rob Betts in the 56th minute.

This proved to be the winner and was a useful exercise in giving players such as Shilton, Betts, Rickards and rookie keeper Danby a game. Harriers also fielded a number of youth team players who looked ok. In defence Mc Hale, who has recently trained with the seniors and Fitter looked good. In fact no one looked bad against their Midland Division opponents. Swifts put up a good fight and created a couple of chances without really threatening. Harriers now progress to the semi finals and another opportunity, in the absence of a reserve team, to give fringe players and youth teamers a chance.

Jenkins “Op” now required

Harriers midfielder Lee Jenkins could be out for up to six weeks after it has been revealed that the former Swansea man does now require surgery. It was 1st thought that Lee would need an operation on his knee but he then seemed to recover and surgery wouldn’t be required. However it has been reported on the official site that he is due for surgery and a lengthy absence..

Bury next

Harriers travel to Bury on Saturday in a league fixture. On the team front Kidder will be without Lee Jenkins(see above) but welcome back Scott Stamps after suspension. Striker Bo Henriksen is still nursing a long term groin injury but could play some part. According to the official site manager Jan Molby may change our tactics tomorrow because of the poor state of the Gigg Lane pitch. He said that we may play more direct, which to be hinest, might not be a bad thing, we need to get more shots in. Anyway, for any fans travelling please check for any postponements etc, with all of the heavy rain, and the Gigg Lane pitch, it might be off.

After Bury Harriers host the return of "The Old Farm Derby, when Cheltenham travel up the M5 on tuesday.
