Harriers completed a productive festive season with a single goal win over Bristol Rovers.Thats 2 wins on the trot for Harriers, and with the "biggie"against Wolves next, can they make it 3? Who knows, but lets enjoy it, theres no pressure on us HARRIERS 1 ROVERS 0 ( brief report)
Harriers moved up the table, briefly to 14th, before the other games kicked off with this fine 1-0 win over a lack lustre Bristol outfit.
To be fair I didn’t see much of the 1st half today, but from what I saw, we did look the more likely to score. Jan changed the team again slightly, with Scott Rickards coming in for his full debut as Harriers reverted to a 4-3-3- formation. Adie Smith was out injured and his place was taken by Lee Jenkins.
After a goalless opening period Harriers took the lead on 47 minutes, when Dean Bennett swept home a right wing cross from just inside the area. After this, the game went quite stale and there were not many other opportunities for either side. Rovers, with respect, seemed awful today, and their large following seemed upset at their display. The travelling gas supporters could be heard to chant against their own team at times, and celebrated when they managed an off target shot.
In the end Harriers comfortably held out for another welcome 3 points in the bid to escape the dreaded drop zone. So what a pleasant festive period, as Kidder complete their West Country double, with wins over Yeovil and Bristol Rovers. Next up it’s the big one against the Wolves, could Harriers win three on the trot ?
Despite all the hype, its going to be very difficult and Wolves start as clear favourites. Lets all just enjoy this short spell in the limelight. There is no pressure on us next Saturday, lets just enjoy the occasion, all the pressure is on Wolves.
