Ruud Van Nistelrooy netted the only goal as the Netherlands continued their warm-up for the World Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 friendly win over Cameroon. Edwin Van Der Sar was also in action, but despite the win, critics remain unconvinced by Dutch credentials.

Out-of-favour MUFC striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy put troubles with his club behind him to help his country to a 1-0 World Cup warm-up in over Cameroon.

The prolific striker looks set to leave Old Trafford over the summer after a much-publicised fall-out with Sir Alex Ferguson, but that was left on English shores as the 29-year-old fired home the only goal of the game in Rotterdam.

Ruud pounced on a Joris Mathijsen flick to fire home the opener midway through the first-half as the Netherlands dominated the opening 45 minutes. However, the skilful Africans battled back after the interval and United 'keeper Edwin Van Der Sar was kept busy as the Dutch failed to take the plaudits in their warm-up game.

Alioum Saidou was sent-off late on for Cameroon in a hard-fought contest.
