Didier Zokora to Old Trafford?

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is keeping tabs on St Etienne star Didier Zokora with an intent to adding the defender to his defensive options in January. Ruud van Nistelrooy has reiterated his intentions to stay at Old Trafford despite tempting links to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real


Ferguson has been keeping a close eye on the Ivory Coast international for a few months and was set to swoop for the defender in August but decided not to approach St Etienne.

However, with the likes of Wes Brown and Gabriel Heinze out of action due to injury, Zokora is be the favourite to bolster the depleted defence. Chelsea have also expressed an interest in the centre-half, who can also operate as a holding midfielder.

If signed, African Cup of Nations duty would delay Zokora's Red Devils debut as he looks to bring glory to Ivory Coast.

The 24-year-old is in his second season with Les Verts after spending 4 years in Belgium with RC Genk.
