Kieran Richardson insists he must be involved in regular first-team action for the Red Devils to cement a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's select ahead of the World Cup this summer.

Richardson hopes he can book his ticket to Germany with the England side, who are a few points off qualifying, and take his chances as a Red Devil.

The 20-year-old scored for United in their Champions League qualifier against Debrecen recently and came on as a substitute for England at the weekend against Wales.

Richardson made his name on the international circuit following an impressive loan-spell with West Brom and scored twice in England's tour of America in the summer. He stated: "You have to be playing regular first-team football to really have a chance for England.

"At the moment I’m not really playing regular club football, but it’s a long season so I am hoping that my chances will come.

"When you are called into the team you have got to be ready. And I will be.

"I’d like to be involved because the World Cup is coming up next summer. But all I want to do is play for Manchester United at the moment, because if I start playing well for my club then chances with England will follow."
